Microsoft Corporation:What next?

As much as we go around cursing our Microsoft Windows (98,Me or Xp),we know that life without it would be unimaginable.Such is the power of the world's biggest software and IT firm-Microsoft.Microsoft has over the years given us some unchangeable resources in the form of Microsoft Office,Windows Media Player and Visual Basic.Even though we have many tools that could be better but still,Microsoft was the first to start it all. Now,Microsoft has been entering into new ventures trying to take over the gaming and music industry as it has over the software industry.I'm going to talk about 2 such products here.

Firstly,XBox 360 which was launched against the very very popular Sony Playstation series. The Playstations have been the leading tools in the gaming arena for the past many years. From the time they first started,Sony has made three versions namely PS1,PS2 and PS3 plus the very popular Playstation Portable(PSP) and similarly Microsoft launched the Xbox 360 to steal PS3's limelight. To their despair,it hasn't been very succesful. After all,you need "something" to derail the Playstation which has been around for a long time.Xbox has almost the same features as offered by the Playstation so one would wonder,Why buy an Xbox 360 over a Playstation which is much more reliable just because of the time it has spent around.Though Microsoft has tried attracting people through interesting advertisements but it hasn't proved very effective. This is my point of view.I mean after searching all about the Xbox and seeing the adverstisements..I'd still prefer a Playstation. Here is what they look like..

The Playstation 3

The Xbox 360

Secondly,I'm gonna talk about Microsoft Zune i.e. Microsoft's attempt to kill the music giant Apple's revolutionary I-Pod.Again it suffers from the same shortcomings.Doesn't offer anything special and they should definately know that it takes a lot to force someone into buying something other than an I-Pod because it's so popular, very reliable and easy to use because of ITunes. Now Microsoft has made the song transfer part easy by integrating it with the Media Player but it's still not something great and moreover,we aren't very sure about Microsoft's sound quality are we? Also it's interesting to note that all attempts to "kill" the I-Pod have been very unsuccesful.Nokia did one such thing. They launched Nokia N93 which is a part of Nokia N-Series.They gave it some good speakers,Bose Headphones and a huge memory storage. The result was that the phone couldn't handle so many songs and started crashing. Moreover, repeated playback caused battery heating and other complications and finally Nokia ended up killing it's I-Pod Killer. There's something yet to come which can dethrone the I-Pod.Here are what the I-Pod and Zune look like...

The Apple I-Pod Shuffle

The Apple I-Pod Nano

The Microsoft Zune

So what's next on Microsoft's conquer the world agenda? Any Guesses?

I think it'd be a mobile phone.What's your say?

I know,Microsoft is into like everything these days! They have the Microsoft Antispyware against the spyware cleaners.I don't know why they haven't created a full fledged antivirus till date cause they know what's the flaws in windows so they should make one on their own.

Oh I totally agree about hotmail,it actually sucks if you compare it with the yahoo's and gmail's.Totally junky interface. They should do something about that for sure.

A Zune would be expensive as compared to a Nano plus it hasn't been recieving very good reports..that's what I heard and moreover Nano is reliable so think before buying whatever you wanna. It's your choice all the way.

I downloaded the Beta version of Office 2007 and lemme tell ya I'm floored by the features. MS is way ahead of the other jokers and it shows in the way they have created the Office Suite.

Amazing layouts, excellent support for XML/web/RSS and a terrific user-friendly ease-of-use interface...

It's just a $1.5 download and you can test-drive the Beta till March 2007.

I know most of you are YM die-hards, but that sucks bigtime in compare to the MS Live Messenger.

Check it out folks...
